Is this to be another first? The first circumnavigation of Quebec to commence in 2010. Tierra Del Fuego, now this. What will be left?

I know, I know, you're asking yourself, how do you circumnavigate Quebec when it's not an island? My French is not so good, so perhaps I missed something, yet I posed this very question to the expedition's ambitious young proponent Mathieu Jean. 

...and am awaiting a reply. Stay tuned.

In the meantime let me say that this trip has captured my imagination. It's not just the island thing. Quebec and Labrador's coastlines are notoriously wild, beautiful and populated by polar bears - to be the first person to paddle all of it, and to do so alone, would be an adventure indeed.

Also, the title of Mathieu's website inspires my romantic soul. Again, there's the language barrier. But directly translated, "bienvenue dans mon reve...mon Everest" sounds something like "welcome inside my dream, my Everest."

A bold reverie, with plans to make it real.

And there is also this line: "a chacun son Everest."

To each his own Everest.

I like the sound of that. This appears to be an expedition with personality.
