Tim Taylor now on his 58 day of a New Zealand solo circumnavigation deals with problems not common to kayak expeditions.

According to reports on Tim's website www.nzkayaker.com he is currently waiting for his new SPOT device to be activated. You're asking "But wait a minute, did he just get a new SPOT?". The answer is yes but that one was stolen in a recent campsite burglary.

That's right, he was robbed! On Monday January 17th Tim woke up and exited his tent to find that he had been burgled during the night. Missing was his SPOT tracking device, GO PRO camera & footage, helmet, & some clothing.

Not a very nice start to the day, but it is incredible how people have reacted. Tim's sponsors immediately moved to replace the stolen items.

Tim says "Huge thanks to Gary Batey at Salcom for the new SPOT, to Blair at Waimarino for replacement helmet & camera, & to Gareth at Mission for clothing. There were many others offering all sorts of help which was very appreciated. Thanks to you all".

According to Tim's update page everyone is eager but waiting patiently for the thieves to "locate" themselves with the SPOT.

Here is a large scale map showing Tim's progress so far.
