Justine Curgenven and Barry Shaw are about to start paddling once again following some time off to allow injuries to heal.

Just days after the pair began their journey Barry was complaining of severe wrist pain which resulted in serious swelling. Careful not to irritate it further they decided to take a rest stop 4 days into their trip.

As if Barry's wrist wasn't problem enough his kayak was stollen by a group of protesters who were protesting against the sudden rise in gas prices. Almost losing his boat for good as one of the protesters was threatening to burn it their luck changed and Barry's kayak was given back to them.

After spending some time at an army base to allow the swelling in Barry's wrist to subside they made a midnight getaway to avoid dealing with heavy winds as the area is known for.

42 nautical miles later they surf landed in just south of Cabo Espiritu Santo and feeling tired. Barry’s wrist is bad again after the long paddle so friends, Marcelo and Monica drove from Rio Grande to meet up with them for a few days rest before kayaking again.

While in Rio Grande with Marcelo and Monica Barry discovered that he had tendonitis on his wrist caused by his drysuit wrist gaskets being too tight.

Making use of their time the pair visited Cabo Domingo and Ushuaia. Now they are back in Rio Grande. They have had 12 days off from paddling and in the next couple days Barry will try having a paddle here to see how his wrist feels.

Here's a map displaying their progress so far. Justine is making progress reports along with photos quite regularly. For more info on their trip visit Justine's blog at www.cackletv.com.
