Looking to introduce your little one to paddling? Pelican introduces big adventure for little explorers.
LAVAL, QUEBEC, April 18, 2011 – For kayak enthusiasts, there is nothing more enjoyable than spending an afternoon skimming across a quiet lake or paddling down a rushing river. However, once children enter the picture, many parents think their paddling days are over. Now, thanks to Pelican, kayaking is finally a sport the entire family can enjoy.
Pelican’s new Solo: Big adventure for the youngest paddlers
Most young children start out in mom or dad’s lap or sitting in the second seat of a double kayak. However, many are ready to move into their own boat long before they are big or strong enough to handle an adult size craft. That’s why Pelican introduced the Solo, a new 6 foot sit-on-top kayak specifically proportioned for children as young as six years of age.
Designed by Pelican’s own design team, the Solo is a highly functional sit-on-top kayak that is simply scaled down in size to suit smaller paddlers. It is ideal for fun on the water and for acquiring and improving paddling skills because, like all sit-on-tops, it offers greater stability than traditional sit-in kayaks. Superior stability means more confidence for kids; open cockpits mean less worry for parents.
Some of the Solo’s key features include:
- Self-bailing design
- Swim-up rear deck with handles
- Super stable hull design
- Moulded footrests
- Side Carrying handles
- Drink holder
- Paddle holder
Kayaking offers unique quality time opportunities for families
For today’s overscheduled families, kayaking offers an ideal opportunity to spend uninterrupted quality time together while being active and enjoying the great outdoors. What could be better than spending a day on the water as a family, taking in the scenery, exploring small islands, swimming in newly discovered inlets, and simply connecting with the wonders of nature- and each other?
Kayaking is great for kids
In addition to being a powerful family bonding activity, paddling also builds children’s self-confidence and self-reliance, offers an exciting alternative to traditional team sports, and teaches them skills that will last throughout their lives.. It also provides a fun way for children to stay in shape and offers a unique opportunity for learning about the environment.
Sturdy yet lightweight, Pelican’s new Solo is easy to paddle, handle and transport and sure to instil a lifelong love of the water, paddling and the great outdoors.
