Expedition paddling is all about planning and then dealing with situations that don't go as planned. This summer a very ambitious trio were set to be the first to sea kayak around the ice-choked Ellesmere Island and then a 100ft waterfall changed the plans.
"I really f***ed up. My boat flattened out halfway down a big falls and I broke my back. I'll know a lot more in the morning when I talk to the neurosurgeon..." said the email from Tyler Bradt to Jon Turk - and with that, the plans changed.
