Here's a trailer for the latest project from Bryan Smith, featuring sea kayaker Paul Kuthe.

Bryan Smith made two sea kayaking DVDs, Pacific Horizons and Eastern Horizons, and then collaborated with Fitz Cahall on this project which is, in Bryan's words from the Kokatat Blog,

"...a 22 episode, web TV series following five athletes through the course of a single season. A veteran climber invents a new piece of gear. A pro snowboarder searches for a way to return to the roots of his sport. A boulderer returns from a series of injuries with new perspective. A family man goes to Whistler to test himself against the mountain biking’s elite. A young sea kayaker with a troubled past sets out to reinvent his sport."

Paul Kuthe is the featured kayaker and Smith says "we captured some incredible new tidal locations for his epsiodes up in Prince Rupert, British Columbia."

I'll be checking out this series because it combines a few of my favourite elements that are hard to find in outdoor film: multisport perspective that shows the common spirit shared by all outdoor pursuits; and the backstories and characters of individual athletes that imparts human interest alongside the action.
