Sure they are EXTREMELY rare with only 21 recorded shark attacks on kayaks since the early 1900's, but just like a good Boy Scout you should be prepared.
"If you do see a shark don't try to paddle away. Your splashing paddle could look like an injured seal and attract more attention"
