The Pipedreams Project

The Pipedreams Crew returned on October 30th, following a successful journey along the BC coast spreading the word on the dangers of a proposed pipeline project.

The Pipedreams Project, a kayak expedition aimed at raising public awareness about the issues surrounding the Northern Gateway Pipeline in BC, a proposed $5.5 billion pipeline running from north of Edmonton to Kitimat. The result of this proposed pipeline; increased oil tanker traffic along the fragile BC coastline.

The paddling team, consisting of Faroe Des Roches, Curtis White, Ryan Vandecasteyen and paddling team videographer Brian Dixon kayaked all the way from Kitimat to Vancouver (for those who were wondering, that’s 900 kilometres).

Like every good cause (and everyone else for that matter) the group has put together an excellent website explaining their cause and how people can help.

On the site is a link to send a letter to the Minister of the Environment and key members of parliament encouraging public participation in the Environmental Assessment process. Go to www.thepipedreamsproject.org/get-involved to send the letter.

Stay tuned to their efforts and a possible documentary.
