Every year paddlers make their way north (waaaay north) in an attempt to take home the title of 1^st place in the Yukon River Quest.

It seems as though we have a bit of a theme developing this week with all the posts about paddling festivals.  To keep with the theme; Mountain Equipment Co-op will be running a series of paddling festivals through out the season across the country.

The 2010 Games are being held in Brockville Ontario from August 23^rd to August 28^th and will include "Open" Canadian medal Championships for anyone 55+.  The race will be a 200 meter flatwater sprint in canoe (C1, C2) and kayak (K1,K2).

It’s the toughest kayak race you’ve never heard of. With a $25,000 purse, Quebec’s 37-year-old Festirame Marathon throws down the gauntlet to the Blackburn Challenge and New York Mayor’s Cup.

The Great Canadian Kayak Challenge, a new recreational kayaking race on the Mattagami River in Timmins, Ontario, offers $15,000 in cash prizes.
