Water Tight Pics

lumix-410px Just new to the scene the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 makes a splash and dives into the pool of waterproof, kayaking friendly digital cameras.

It wasn’t too long ago that digital cameras were bulky, expensive and delicate.  You wouldn’t dare take a digital camera near the water for fear of dropping it in and frying it’s circuits.   A few years ago a couple of camera companies started the trend of adventure proof cameras which brings us to the latest addition to the category the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2.

Panasonic writes

The new TS2 is not only waterproof, shockproof, freezeproof and dustproof but it also features AVCHD Lite High Definition (HD) video recording capabilities.

The TS2’s tough and rugged design makes it the ideal choice for active users needing the ultimate hybrid for capturing both still and motion images during outdoor activities.

Starting at the 28mm wide angle, and zooming up to a useful 128mm in telephoto, the TS2 gives users the flexibility for a variety of shooting environments – especially underwater, where movement is often restricted and the angle of view becomes important for composing shots.

The DMC-TS2 can be used in water to a depth of 10 meters. It supports active shooting on a beach, underwater or in a pool. When the camera gets dirty, simply rinse it off with soft and fresh water.

This camera has passed a drop test from 2 m in height in accordance with “MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock”. It lets you shoot actively while moving around with the camera in one hand.

With freezeproof up to -10°C, the TS2 supports shooting while skiing, snowboarding or ice skating.

With its rubber padding, reinforced glass and carbon resins inside the camera, the TS2 features an airtight body protected against water immersion, dust and sand. This is the perfect camera to take with you on all your outdoor activities.

There are whole ton of other features that I don’t really have the attention span to go through but if you are a techie kind of person here are the rest of details.
