One Tough Cup
More than just your regular, run of the mill travel mug.
Many of hours of research and trial and error have gone into to building my outdoor adventure kit. Starting with my tent right down to my dishes.
Thinking back, as I sit here drinking my coffee I am reminded of my challenges of finding the perfect trip mug/cup.
I went through numerous options before I found an item that was perfect and suited my needs.
The challenge…
Hold a hot beverage.
Hold a cold beverage.
Keep said beverage hot for an extended period of time.
Keep said beverage cold for an extended period of time.
Have the ability to carry beverage in or on pack with out spilling.
Compact enough to be slipped into a jacket pocket if necessary.
Tough enough to fall down a cliff and still hold my coffee.
It’s kinda funny because this quest for the holy grail of travel mugs actually came to be from my big city downtown job days and travelling on the commuter train.
As you can imagine at times negotiating your way through the crowds with out spilling your coffee can be an impossible task.
As mentioned I tried many different options. One that worked okay on trips was a large or small stainless steel vacuum bottle with separate mug.
This was okay but not very compact and I’ve always said the more crap you have on a trip the more crap you can loose on a trip.
The cup I am using now is the Thermos Urban Elements travel tumbler.
I’ve been using it now for about two years and I now own two of them because I temporarily lost the lid to my first one, which leads to, in my opinion, the only weakness of this system.
This cup has met all of my above criteria and I highly endorse it.
I recently emailed the company for parts because as you can imagine everyday use leads to wear on the seals.
I will have to post later about product service and support.
